30 x 30 | Days Sixteen and Seventeen

button up | old navy, tank | charlotte russe, skirt | thrifted, $3
I got caught up in life so here are days sixteen and seventeen.  I switched the green tshirt in my 30 items for this white tank and really liked it over the gingham button up at first.  For some reason I wasn't as fond of the look when I got home from work.

I went to the iPhone archives for this outfit for day seventeen -- I quickly made an album of various combinations before I started the challenge and it has been so useful on days when I'm running late or don't feel creative enough to put together an outfit. So nifty.

I'm hoping to use this long weekend to catch up on everyone's last few blog posts (and loving comments!)

30 x 30 | Day Three

One of the things I want to get better about doing in 2013 style-wise is recreating looks and making them my own.  So often I find myself seeing an outfit in a magazine or on Pinterest, thinking it's really cute and moving on.

2013: the year I treated styling items in my closet as seriously as I treat eating fro yo. It's happening.

I promise you I would have worn shoes today, but I didn't actually leave my house at all.  So obviously I just kicked my UGG slippers off before my self timer went off.

anorak | old navy

I did throw on this anorak when I got cold - definitely one of my favorite purchases this season for only $11 :)

30 x 30 | Day Two

I got my inspiration for today's outfit from Phoebe at Musings of a Cardigan Fiend.
product info available here

She tried on a cardigan over a chambray top before deciding against purchasing, but I love the way the yellow popped against the gray and chambray.

I consider this the perfect outfit: dressy enough to look put together as I scour Half Price Books for some new DVDs, but still casual enough to lay in bed while eating vanilla pudding cake and watching Pitch Perfect...not that that's what I'm planning on doing - it totally is.

headband and necklace | charming charlie's

Picked the headband because of the polka dots to tie in with the chambray and the navy color to match the detailing on the cardigan.  The necklace is shiny, but didn't feel to over the top.

I've gotten so many wonderful comments from many of you about the 30 for 30 remix challenge so thank you so, so much and please be sure to check out the other ladies participating.  They're all taking some risks and getting creative.

30 x 30 | Day One

Decided late last night that the red polka dot pants were a TBD purchased. I'm swapping them out for gray cords, but aside from that I'm sticking to the plan. The items list is already updated so it's like it never happened. Without further ado...

I'm so excited day one is here!  So I have to admit...I struggled. I know, I know it's the first day but I started thinking, "Should I start off creative and save the easy outfits for mid month? Or do I start with the easy outfits and then get creative later?"  It's still undecided so let me know how you feel about having a 30 for 30 strategy.  Please tell me I'm not the only person that has a game plan with color coded sticky notes.

Eventually, this was what was decided on.

I pulled the tank over the oxford and wore it as a vest.

These are items 11, 12, 14 and 21, if you're keeping track from the items list.  Out of genuine curiosity, I'm keeping a tally sheet of how many times items get worn this month, just to see what pieces were the most versatile.

As you can see, I added some color - black, white and gray seems so wintery to me but too dreary at the same time.

There are some really fabulous women participating in this challenge and I'm hoping to highlight my favorite remixes that they've put together weekly during January! Stay tuned.

Happy Wednesday!

3 ways to wear: polka dot chambray shirt

polka dot chambray button up | old navy
I hadn't found a chambray shirt that I was completely in love with when I spotted this one online shopping one day.  Right after I purchased it, I realized everyone else had as well - the shirt has been quite popular on instagram recently.  I had briefly worried that the polka dots would limit how I could style the shirt, but I've found that it's a versatile piece.

- paired with orange and gray zig zag skirt -
skirt | target (spring)
coral acrylic chain necklace | target
ring & brown bracelet | charming charlie
pearl and gold bracelet | made myself
Patterns have been huge this season and pattern mixing has been a trend.  I felt comfortable in this mix, because the polka dots aren't so loud that they clash with the skirt.

- tied up over a LBD -
black gladiator sandals | clarks
little black dress | planet funk
ring | versona accessories
I went out to lunch with a friend and wanted something that was light to wear over my sleeveless dress. I skimmed through my closet before pulling out the chambray shirt and tying it into a knot mid-torso. It made the dress more casual and the outfit was easy to run errands in afterwards.

- paired with cream cable knit sweater and coral chino pants -
sweater | ralph lauren
chinos | h&m (similar here)
I hate being cold so I've found pulling a sweater on over a button up is a good way to go during the autumn and winter months.  I rolled the sleeves on my cable knit twice before cuffing the sleeves of the shirt over them.  The fabric is double printed around the cuffs so it made the polka dots look more uniform.  Lots of compliments on this combo at work.

How would you wear the polka dot chambray shirt?
